Air Conditioning FAQS

  • Common causes include:

    • Low refrigerant gas

    • Leaks in the system

    • A worn compressor

    • Blocked cabin or pollen filter

    • Electrical faults A quick A/C pressure and leak test will identify the issue.

  • Most manufacturers recommend an A/C service every 2 years. Express Vehicle Services recommend regular servicing keeps the system efficient and prevents expensive component failures.

  • A re‑gas is the process of removing old refrigerant and refilling the system with fresh gas. This restores cooling performance if the system has lost pressure over time.

  • Signs include:

    • Warm air from the vents

    • Weak airflow

    • A/C taking longer to cool

    • Windows not demisting properly

    • Clicking noises when A/C is switched on

  • This is usually caused by bacteria or mould build‑up in the evaporator or cabin filter. Express Vehicle Services can provide an A/C antibacterial clean or new cabin filter which normally solves it.

  • We actually recommend this as it helps:

    • Clear misted windows faster

    • Keep the system lubricated

    • Prevent seals from drying out

  • A/C servicing is a separate job, but here at Express Vehicle Services we can add it to your service booking on request.

  • At Express Vehicle Services most re‑gas jobs take 30–45 minutes, depending on the vehicle and refrigerant type.
